“That ye may be blameless and harmless, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.”

These words are found in the book of Philippians 2:15. The Lord Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:14, “Ye are the light of the World. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.” I would think He is telling us that if we put ourselves in a position or place of being seen, we will be seen.

Not only are we to be the light of the world but the church of which we are is to be the voice of the God to the world. We are commanded to “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15

We are the light of God and the voice of God to a lost and dying world. We soon find out after we are saved that we cannot be silent about what God has done in our lives and we must tell others of the so-great salvation found in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We cannot be silent because God in His mercy and grace has made us a new creature in Christ Jesus. II Corinthians 5:17

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

For the church to be seen and heard there must be a witness and that witness is those of us who are saved and serving. We as God’s people must expose ourselves as to who we are and who He is. We must tell the world that Jesus has come and has paid the sin debt for all men and that they too can be saved and serving. We cannot be quiet; we must be heard and we must be seen. We must be witnesses as to that which God has done for us in His Son the Lord Jesus Christ.

There is a world that is lost and undone and without help or hope if we who are the light do not shine and if we who are the voice do not witness. How shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? We live in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation that does not know that Jesus is the answer. Let’s purpose to be the light and voice wherever we are.
