“I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.” II John 4

“I have no greater joy than to hear
that my children walk in truth.” III John 4

The all inclusive message of the Bible is salvation of the soul. From Genesis to Revelation the overall important message is for souls to be saved. It is good to hear of one coming to the saving knowledge of the Lord.

John writes of his joy for those he considers his children who have been saved. That is a wonderful thing to see converts in the church. We reflect back when we too received some wonderful news about one of our children. Our youngest son and his wife’s oldest child, Addyson, received the Lord as her Saviour.

She called us and told us that God had saved her and that she had asked the Lord to save her soul because she was a sinner and needed a Saviour. She said just that, “I am a sinner and need a Saviour.” We can understand to the fullest what John was talking about when he said, “What joy to know that your children walk in truth.”

What a wonderful and glorious thing God has provided for His children; the salvation of our souls with full knowledge of what God has done. The knowledge that no matter what may befall us in life, if we are saved, we have a Saviour to lead, guide and direct us. We have His promise to never leave or forsake us in this life and the heartfelt knowledge of life eternal.

The salvation of our children is not just for them. It is for us as well; the parents, grandparents, siblings and friends. The knowing that our loved one has received the Lord into their life and has obeyed the commandment of God in repentance unto salvation.

What joy to know that our children walk in truth.
