The Blessed Hope

“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour, Jesus Christ.”

The great apostle writes that we who are the saved should live looking for the blessed hope, the coming of the Lord Jesus. Neither I nor anyone else on this side knows the hour or the day of the coming of the Lord in the rapture of the church, but it will be soon.

There are many in the church today that are not really interested in the coming of the Lord and their lives prove it. They are wrapped up in the world and worldly things with no regard for the things of God or a real relationship with Jesus. They are much like many in Old Testament times that were taken into bondage in Babylon. When the opportunity to return to the homeland was presented they refused; they had acclimated themselves to the world. They were in and were enjoying what they were doing. They had businesses and were doing well financially and did not want to leave.

These are those who have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. By virtue of their family history of being part of a church, they attend sometimes but most definitely claim Jesus as Saviour. I know folks that are supposed to be members of Grace Baptist who name the name of Jesus but have not been to church in months and months. I have a great difficulty believing that they are looking for the soon coming of our Lord.

Not even to consider that Jesus gave Himself for us to redeem us from sin, but think of the glorious appearing of the Lord; the blessed hope. The coming of the Lord is going to be a glorious happening. Such has never happened before in the history of man.

The Word of God teaches that we should live looking for the eminent coming of Jesus. We are not to get involved in the things of this world to the extent that we would let a day go by that we would not stop to consider that today could be the day.

What a day that will be when faith turns into sight.
